From Olivia

To celebrate Earth Month, I have partnered with IMPACT Montevallo, our Drug Free Communities Coalition, and Montevallo Main Street. We have scheduled three events. I think MPA would really enjoy the team scavenger hunt we planned and the nature walk. I attached the flyer. It’s a weeklong scavenger hunt running from April 17th to April 24th. We are also hosting a Trash to Treasure Art Project (Wednesday April 21st at 6pm at Recycling Center) and a Guided Nature Walk at Shoal Creek Park (Saturday April 24th at 8am). You can register in teams here and also sign up for the other events here: https://forms.gle/9kJezkJjMg1U7gV46. Each participant will receive a goody bag and cash prizes are awarded!

Alabama House District 73 Runoff Update

The Republican runoff for Alabama House District 73 is Tuesday April 27, 7-7.  The runoff is between Leigh Hulsey and Kenneth Paschal.  Andrea heard Kenneth Paschal speak at the April NAACP meeting, and would encourage anyone who is eligible to vote in this primary to consider a vote for him.

January Meeting

Our January meeting is Thursday, January 28 at 6:30PM via Zoom.

We will be joined by an organizer from Alabama Arise to talk about the upcoming state legislative session and Arise’s policy priorities.

Alabama Arise is a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan coalition of congregations, organizations and individuals united in their belief that people in poverty are suffering because of state policy decisions. Through Arise, groups and individuals join together to promote policies to improve the lives of Alabamians with low incomes. Arise provides a structure in which Alabamians can engage in public debates to promote the common good. Alabama Arise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, meaning donations are tax-deductible.

Please join us!
